During WW II, there was a Nazi proposal to exchange 1 million imprisoned Jews for 10,000 truck. It wasn’t accepted.

It’s one of the most bitter moment in World War II. Joel Brand, a leader member of the Jew Committee in Hungary had to take the decision.

Even before his death, he wouldn’t forgive himself of the decision. Not long before his desath in 1964, he mentioned to an interviewer: “An accident of life placed the fate of one million human beings on my shoulders. I eat and sleep and think only of them“.
